At elementary school in Jena and the neighboring districts

Primary school children in Jena, Pößneck and the region can look forward to the „3D Solar Technology Days“ again this year. The educational tour on climate protection and renewable energies starts on April 23 at the Südschule in Jena and visits various elementary school in the Saale-Holzland district, Saale-Orla district and Weimarer Land until October.

Around 350 children from 15 classes will be introduced to the basics of  Solar technology introduced. The pupils learn how to construct solar models, experiment with renewable raw materials on the 3D printer and explore how solar energy works. Stadtwerke Energie Jena-Pößneck has been supporting the project since 2022, helping to raise children's awareness of sustainable energy.

Claudia Budich, Managing Director of Stadtwerke Energie Jena-Pößneck, emphasizes:

The positive feedback from pupils and teachers encourages us to continue supporting the 3D solar technology days. It is important to us to convey an understanding of climate protection to the children in our region and to inspire them for the technical professions of the future.

The costs for the total of 15 project days, 600 euros each, are borne in equal parts by the Climate Protection Foundation Jena-Thuringia and Stadtwerke Energie.
The Solar Technology Days educational program was first launched in 2017 as a pilot project by the Climate Protection Foundation in collaboration with the Solar Village Kettmannshausen association. Since 2018, the offer has been available to elementary school in Thuringia through a funding model: as soon as a school finds a co-sponsor who contributes 300 euros, the Climate Protection Foundation covers the other half of the costs.
