When using solar energy, a distinction can be made between two processes - photovoltaics and solar thermal energy.

Photovoltaics is the direct conversion of solar energy into electricity. In solar thermal energy, on the other hand, collectors convert solar radiation into usable heat, which is usually used via heat exchangers for heating and hot water production.

The most important reasons for photovoltaic systems at a glance:

• Photovoltaic systems are virtually maintenance-free and uncomplicated to operate
• You save on electricity costs
• A photovoltaic system increases the value of your property
• Photovoltaic systems have a long service life so that the next generation will also benefit from the advantages
• They make an important contribution to the energy transition
• You avoid climate-damaging carbon dioxide

Low, because solar power systems are almost maintenance-free, and the operating and maintenance costs are very low.

Of course, in spite of everything, maintenance should be carried out regularly as it guarantees a consistent performance of the system and thus a stable output.

Solar systems consist of photovoltaic modules

• The sun shines on the modules on the roof of your building
• Direct current is generated in the modules
• An inverter converts the direct current into alternating current
• This is transmitted via the house network and can be consumed by you
• Solar power that is not consumed is fed directly into the public grid (feed-in tariff)

By connecting several solar modules, the output, and thus the amount of solar power, can also be increased and adapted to individual needs.
