As jENERGIE, we are now contributing our expertise and municipal policy experience in the energy and housing segments to the ODH Open District Hub. The non-profit association is committed to the success of the energy transition and the development of liveable, climate-neutral cities and regions and sees the key to this in the neighborhood. To this end, ODH brings together relevant players from business and science.

„As a smart energy supplier, membership of the ODH offers us the opportunity to directly exchange experiences in neighborhood development. The cooperation with the neighborhood network has the advantage of being able to pass on the latest innovations to our customers. We are looking forward to working together and helping to shape the energy supply of tomorrow in the context of neighborhoods,

explained Tobias Wolfrum, Managing Director of jENERGIE, Stadtwerke Jena and jenawohnen.

The foundation of jENERGIE is the expertise and municipal policy experience of Stadtwerke Jena in the energy and housing segments. The aim of our start-up, founded in 2020, is to develop innovative ideas and concepts for smart neighborhoods. We already offer innovative products and services in our Smart Neighborhood Jena-Lobeda. Around 230 fully renovated apartments in various sizes and designs have been built in the middle of this lively district. They are equipped with various smart home applications and other bookable services designed to improve the quality of life for tenants.

“jENERGIE's expertise in smart neighborhoods and sustainable urban development greatly enriches the ODH network. The company shows that municipal utilities can successfully develop new business models that can also be a showcase project for the necessary renovation of prefabricated buildings in eastern Germany,

explained ODH Managing Director Frank Brachvogel.

The Smart Neighborhood model project has laid a foundation that will also be transferred to other housing associations and companies in and around Jena. Offers in the areas of energy saving, sustainable mobility and resource conservation are intended to promote the energy and climate transition in residential areas. In addition, services in the field of health, such as telemedicine, are being developed locally.
