Nationwide strikes planned for the week around March 1

The collective bargaining negotiations between the trade union ver.di and the municipal employers' association Thüringen e. V. as representatives of the Thüringer Verkehrsbetriebe (TV-N-Thüringen), which were interrupted in January, were to be resumed on February 13, 2024.

However, the employers' side was surprised to learn before the negotiations began that the ver.di union had already planned to paralyze local transport with further strikes in the week around 1 March, irrespective of the outcome of the negotiations scheduled for 13 February. These strikes have been determined by the union leadership in Berlin for the whole of Germany; there is no final mandate from the ver.di negotiating leader regarding the TV-N negotiations before these strikes are carried out.

Due to the fact that the strikes had already been decided in advance, it made no sense to continue the negotiations from the employer's point of view, despite the employer's great interest in ending the wage dispute by making further concessions and a significantly improved offer. The transport companies, including Jenaer Nahverkehr and JES Verkehrsgesellschaft, regret the repeated disruption to local transport due to the nationally politically motivated strikes by the trade union ver.di, which have no specific factual connection with the negotiations on the TV-N-Thüringen.

A continuation of the negotiations has been agreed for March and April 2024. The employer side expresses the expectation that the ver.di trade union will then also be willing to enter into results-oriented negotiations for the TV-N-Thüringen.
