Reduce the number of journeys: The vacation timetable applies from next Monday

The drivers of Jena's local public transport service are committed to keeping the city's public transport system running around the clock, seven days a week. Unfortunately, however, the timetable now has to be reduced: From next Monday, November 20, and until further notice, the streetcars on lines 1, 4 and 5 and the buses on lines 10, 11, 12 and E will run according to the vacation timetable. School traffic remains unaffected by this change.

The reason for this timetable shortening is the high number of sickness-related absences among drivers. Managing Director Andreas Muller says: "Although we as a transport company find ourselves in a difficult staffing situation overall, we have been able to cope well so far, also thanks to the support of our workshop and administrative staff in the driving service." But now all capacities are exhausted and there is no more room for maneuver. The rail replacement service in the north of the city also has to be covered and driver training for the new streetcar has to be carried out, which ties up additional capacity. "It is no longer possible for us to cover these bottlenecks without shortening the timetable," says Muller.

Jenaer Nahverkehr asks its passengers for understanding in this challenging situation. Passengers can find all changes with immediate effect on the website at stadtwerke-jena.de/nahverkehr
