Living in Hermsdorf

"A scenic location between forests, valleys and impressive bridges!"

Hermsdorf, the small town just 30 km east of Jena, was already significant in the Middle Ages. The town center with lovely half-timbered houses is still a reminder of this today.

However, the town of around 8,000 inhabitants in the Thuringian Holzland has much more to offer: an established infrastructure with cafés, daycare centers, schools and shopping facilities, for instance, and a wide range of leisure activities for young and old. Children and young people can let off steam in the open-air swimming pool, the skatepark, and on three soccer fields. Schools and club sport athletes have access to a state-of-the-art athletics facility and a three-field gymnasium.

Hermsdorf is particularly proud of its scenic location between extensive forests and deep valleys, which are spanned by impressive bridges. The most famous example is the Teufelstalbrücke in the Zeitzgrund. Many hiking and biking trails in the region invite you to spend your leisure time actively and to take a break in one of the historic inns that have been converted into guesthouses.
