Jena, February 27, 2025 – On the morning of February 26, a fire broke out in the basement of our building in Musäusring in Jena Lobeda-Ost. The fire was reported at around 5:30 a.m., whereupon the professional fire department and the volunteer fire departments from Winzerla, Göschwitz and Lobeda immediately arrived on site. Together, they were able to prevent the fire from spreading further.

A total of 72 people had to be evacuated from 88 apartments. The affected tenants were provided with medical care by the civil protection support team and the rescue service. The chief emergency doctor and the organizational head of the rescue service of the city of Jena were also deployed. Two Jena public transport buses were provided to take the evacuees to hotels or private accommodation.

After the firefighting operation was over, the tenants were able to retrieve their personal belongings from the apartments under safe conditions. Due to the damage to the house connection and the associated power failure, it is currently not possible to return to the apartments.

In addition, our employees were on site to support the affected tenants in this difficult situation and to assist them with accommodation and other organizational matters.

The cause of the fire is still unclear. The police have started an investigation and we are in close contact with the relevant authorities. It is not yet possible to predict when the tenants will be able to return to their apartments.

We would like to assure all affected tenants that, together with our partners, we are doing everything we can to restore the power connection as quickly as possible. Until then, a security service will be monitoring the building to ensure the safety of the property.

We would like to thank everyone involved – especially the fire department and the rescue services – for their quick and professional efforts.
