Construction project
We have faced up to our social responsibility and built a space for a dignified farewell for the citizens of Jena. The new building is a joint project with the Hospiz- und Palliativstiftung Jena (foundation for hospice and palliative). As a tenant of the house, it has been operating the inpatient hospice since the beginning of 2019 for the accompaniment and care of people who are at the end of their lives in Lobeda Ost.
The planning office Gerber Architekten, which designed the new hospice building, already has extensive experience with similar buildings. The result is a one-storey low-rise building that, in addition to 12 single rooms for the seriously ill, also offers space for 2 rooms for relatives. In addition, there is space for the outpatient service of the Förderverein Hospiz and the administration of the Hospiz- und Palliativstiftung.
The building and the interior design of the rooms radiate calm, warmth and cordiality to offer the residents a pleasant environment while living their last days. There is also a „Room of Silence“ to pause and say goodbye. The nursing rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows and views of greenery. This allows residents to feel very close to nature and the sky during their final days.
Living environment
Jena's new hospice was built in Lobeda Ost at the corner of Paul-Schneider-Straße and Bonhoefferstraße below the Lobdeburg School - in the immediate vicinity of the University Hospital, doctors' surgeries and pharmacies.
