Electronic locking system

In 2024 we started switching from conventional to electronic locking systems throughout our properties. All buildings are expected to be fully equipped with modern electronic locking systems by 2030.

For more information what this means for you as a tenant and what advantages the digital system brings please look at our frequently asked questions below.

Transponder loss and replacement

Increased security:
The electronic locking system ensures greater security in the building, as break-ins are made significantly more difficult. If a transponder is lost, it can be blocked immediately. The possibility of break-ins is also significantly reduced by the electronic technology.

Smooth access in an emergency:
In the event of a technical fault or damage, service providers can quickly and easily gain access to the building to carry out necessary repairs.

Fast blocking in the event of loss:
If you lose a transponder, it can be blocked quickly and easily without having to replace the entire locking system.

One key for everything - just like before:
As before, you only need one transponder to gain access to communal areas. You can still open your apartment door with your conventional key.

No copying of keys:
Keys cannot be copied. In addition, it is now possible to trace who has which key, which ensures greater transparency and control.

Fewer keys for janitors and tenant advisors:
Our janitors and tenant support staff now need fewer keys. A master key for the respective work area is sufficient. If this is lost or stolen, it can be blocked immediately.

As part of the renewal of the locking systems, the following doors will be equipped with a digital locking system:

  • Building entrances
  • Doors to communal areas (e.g. cellar, bicycle cellar, bin storage areas)
  • Gates and other access areas

Important note:
The apartment doors remain unaffected by this conversion, as these belong to the private tenant property or the rented property.

Each tenant receives three transponders for access to the communal areas. You can still open the apartment door with your existing key.

Replacing the keys:
If, for example, you previously had five keys and need them, you can of course also receive five transponders on request.

If you need additional transponders, you can request them via the contact form. There is a fee of 20 euros for each additional transponder.

Request transponder

Please report the loss immediately to your tenant advisor or use our contact form. The lost transponder will be blocked immediately and you can request a replacement transponder. The cost of a new or additional transponder is 20 euros.

Our tenant advisors will then get in touch with you.

Transpoder loss and replacement

The transponders are available in the jenawohnen colors orange, yellow and blue. Tenants with more than three transponders receive keys in white and green. However, these colors have no technical significance.

Having said this, they have the function of being able to assign each key to a person. If a transponder is lost, it is sufficient to report the color in order to be able to block it.

You can return the old keys to our Service Centers.

Yes, access to the building is guaranteed even in the event of a power failure. The electronic locking system works via a battery and the transponder communicates via a magnetic field. You are therefore not affected even in the event of a power failure.

You can use the transponders to open different locking systems: Smart Relay, Smart Handle and locking cylinder. Hold the transponder in front of the respective locking system.

Follow the instructions for each locking system.

  • Smart Relay
  • Smart Handle
  • Locking cylinder

Attention: Please note that locking cylinders must be locked again using the transponder. This also applies to the waste disposal locations.
