Aug 29, 2024 | Water and wastewater museum in the Mühltal pumping station | 07743 Jena | Wasserquartier
The water and wastewater museum in the Mühltal pumping station opens its doors to the public on Thursday, August 29. Visitors are welcome to the small exhibition in Erfurter Strasse between 3 and 6 pm. Admission is free.
The historical pumping station facilities, which first went into operation in 1897, are on display. The exhibition also includes documents, photos and maps from the more than 500-year history of water supply and wastewater treatment in Jena and the region. Numerous technical exhibits are also on display.
In addition to the historical part of the exhibition, the building also houses the pumping station, which still distributes the drinking water supplied by the Thuringian district water supply to households in Jena-West.
