Open afternoon at the Mühltal pumping station

Apr 25, 2024 | Water and wastewater museum in the Mühltal pumping station | 07743 Jena |

The Water and Sewage Museum in the Mühltal pumping station opens its doors to the public on Thursday, April 25. Visitors are welcome to visit the small exhibition in Erfurter Straße between 3pm and 6pm. Admission is free of charge.

The historical pumping station facilities, which first went into operation in 1897, are on display. The exhibition also includes documents, photos and maps from the more than 500-year history of water supply and wastewater treatment in Jena and the region.

We are also launching a short series of lectures on "Water".

For this, we have been able to engage Mr. Kurt Porkert, a pensioner from Ziegenhain who is particularly interested in the history of water supply, to give a presentation on the first topic, "The beginnings of the supply of tap water to Jena's districts".

The lecture series will continue on August 29, 2024 at the Water and Sewage Museum Pumpwerk Mühltal.
